Alison Merry

Alison’s working background has been in archaeology and history. She has been involved in archaeological excavation and draughtsmanship, research, museum curatorship and local history writing. Inspired originally and specifically by the richness and vibrancy of Medieval art, she has developed a painting style of her own that puts a medieval 'spin' on to her subjects for the purpose of storytelling and illustration.

Her paintings are unashamedly pastiches that draw on historic styles but with the added 'twist' of her own invention making the images original and contemporary.

She lives and works in Gloucestershire, UK drawing inspiration from the area’s beautiful stone buildings, rich diverse history, and unique local custom and folklore.
